Costume & Set Design

8 WEEKS PROGRAM

Production designers are responsible for creating the look and mood of the actors in a production. The costume is a viable element to storytelling and having the ability to story tell through the medium of wardrobe is essential in producing a successful body of work.

COURSE CONTENT

This course will allow students to design theatrical costumes based on the historic period and character development.

Students will learn how to interpret design with an emphasis on clearly communicating ideas from research.

Students will have a clear understanding on how to make fabric selections, create a character analysis from a designer’s viewpoint, character breakdowns and budgeting.

COURSE OUTCOME

At the end of the workshop, students will understand how the costume design can facilitate the story by breaking down a script and analyzing each character’s motives and movements.
