Intro To Theatre Production

8 WEEKS PROGRAM

A theatrical production is any work of theatre, such as a staged play, musical, comedy or drama produced from a written book or script. These productions generally feature actors, costumes and sets.Introduction to the non-performance areas of theatrical production, administrative, design, and technical fields will provide an overview of the design process in the areas of scenic, lighting, costume and sound design.

COURSE CONTENT

Students will learn the basics of the following:
• Stage crew
• Shop operations through practical experience
• Identify how an ensemble positively affects the production process
• Understand the technical aspects of theatrical production in relation to a performance
• Understand and demonstrate knowledge of the production process of a play
• Exposure to the creative process of all areas of theatrical design

 

COURSE OUTCOME

At the end of the workshop, students will have learned the process of mounting a theatrical production from conception to curtain call.
